Dallas, Houston tech hiring leaders for 2019
MENLO PARK, Calif. – Around 80 percent of technology managers in Houston plan to expand their teams next year, making the metro the top city in the U.S. for 2019 tech hiring.
According to Robert Half Technology's State of U.S. Tech Hiring report, 80 percent of Houston hirers say it's challenging to find talent in their area. However, 97 percent are confident in prospects.
Dallas is also in the top five, tying No. 4 Chicago, with 75 percent of managers looking to expand.
In North Texas, 86 percent of hiring managers say it's challenging to find local talent, but 98 percent are confident in their company's growth.
Charlotte, N.C., (77 percent) and Phoenix (76 percent) ranked second and third, respectively.
Nationwide, 63 percent of IT hiring decision makers plan to expand the size of their teams. Eighty-seven percent of those surveyed said it's challenging for their company to find skilled IT professionals.
According to the research, the top five most important skills to employers are:
cybersecurity,
cloud security,
cloud computing,
cloud architecture, and
business intelligence and reporting services.
