Houston industrial buildings find new purpose as mixed-use
HOUSTON – The MKT mixed-use development in The Heights will soon break ground.
Technically, the project is a renovation. The five industrial buildings being repurposed for The MKT were built in the '70s.
The buildings, which total 200,000 sf, will include 30 retail and restaurant concepts; 100,000 sf of office space; four acres of green space; parking; and an outdoor venue.
Michael Hsu Office of Architecture and Radom Capital served as the project’s architects. JLL is coordinating the office leasing space.
The MKT name comes from the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad—later known as the Katy Railroad—that was transformed into the Heights Hike and Bike Trail.
