Longview-area unemployment drops in March
LONGVIEW – The unemployment rate in the three-county MSA dropped from 4.1 percent in February to 3.8 percent in March, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.
The commission reported 3,700 people of a civilian labor force of 97,300 in Gregg, Rusk, and Upshur Counties were between jobs in March, down from 4,000 in February when the labor force totaled 98,500.
The unemployment rate was 4.3 percent a year ago, with 4,200 people between jobs.
The unemployment rate tied that of the state, which added 22,600 seasonally adjusted nonfarm positions since February.
